Since Bold/Italic icons get another week of discussion and Text Color,
Highlight Color icons have been put on hold until the representation of text is decided, I've decided to introduce another call for proposals in the meantime. It's a single icon and a relatively simple task. There's nothing you'd have to design, you just have to take the LibreOffice document icon, Android's plus symbol, and tweak them to make them work in black-and-white on a 48x48 pixel grid. I've put up my old proposal, although I still plan to tweak it (not satisfied with the plus icon). Ivan, you also put up a proposal a while ago: Application_New-Document.svg. Submit it if you'd like and please label it with a license. Thanks. :) -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

Why does the sheet have to have a Libreoffice logo outline?
IMO that's unneccessarliy complex. A rectangle would do the same job and that'd fit the minimalistic style better. Also, I think using the logo of an app inside the app is redundant since it already appears in panels, docks etc. If I find the time this week, I'll do a suggestion. kind regards Tobias -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

> It's LibreOffice's document icon. > I don't think it will change anytime soon. That's not what I meant. I just wanted to point out that the icon doesn't neccessarily have to look like the Libreoffice logo. To show what I mean I've done some quick drafts for all the "new file" icons. http://ubuntuone.com/3tyGrwQT7tTyjD39phBdub kind regards tobias -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

The logo carries the message that you're creating a new LibreOffice document, whereas a simple rectangle could be interpreted as "new page", "add rectangle"/"add media" (depending on whether it's empty), "new file" (generic), etc. Nevertheless, you're welcome to add your proposals to the wiki page: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Whiteboards/Flat_icon_set -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

I also don’t think that is necessary to include LibreOffice’s logo
into the New Document icon. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

I can see what Mirek is trying to say with confusing the icons with
different function. we know what it stands for because the proposal is for a "New Document" icon. but new users may not understand what each icon means, and putting the logo into the icon makes it more easily understandable of what it does. I saw nothing wrong with Tobias icon till Mirek said that it could be a new rectangle or page. maybe it the icon had the fold in the page as we are all used to, but that may also be interpreted as a new page and not a new document.

Hi Mirek,
I like your new document icon, but I think you should move a little the + logo (to have the same space horizontally and vertically between '+' logo and the document). I will try to make that this week (I'm one my tablet actually, in the train, it's impossible !)
