Information regarding the Annual LibreOffice Conference 2013 - Milan, Italy
Florian Effenberger by Florian Effenberger @
Hello,

I have good news to all of you, finally - the videos from last year's
LibreOffice Conference have been cut and put online by the company in
charge of the recordings. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen technical
difficulties, it took much longer than anticipated, and in the end, they
had to hand-cut and lipsync videos and slides, which took an incredible
amount of time, explaining the huge delay.

I am currently evaluating the technical options of hosting those videos
together with their special player on our own infrastructure, and expect
to finally have the files online on our servers soon, available to the
general public. You are probably aware that all the slides have already
been available since last November or so at
http://conference.libreoffice.org/talks/

Again, sorry for this massive delay.

As to pictures, we have provided technical facilities for uploading
them, and many people made us of these. However, as sometimes it was a
weird mixture of publishable and unpublishable, public and private
pictures, and so far, no volunteer for reviewing them has shown up, they
are not online.

Hopefully the videos can compensate that a bit. ;-)

Florian

Hi all,

I've worked on a way to import the user accounts and the permissions
from the LibreOffice conference 2012 site, that is currently running in
an own Plone instance, the last days again. I got an easy way to import
the "old" accounts with their password etc. I've set up a
test-conference-site for this. This new
site is available at:
http://vm5.documentfoundation.org:9094/2013/en

If you own an account on the LibreOffice-Conference-2012-Site you could
try to login with your credentials on the test-site. I'm happy to get
feedback, if it works for you (and not only for me).

If everything works as expected I'll import the 'old' accounts into the
productive conference-2013-site.

Regards,
Andreas

Michael Stahl-2 by Michael Stahl-2 @

somebody just asked me for the slides of my LO conference 2012 talk -
and apparently the web page on conference.libreoffice.org that listed
all the slides is no longer available.

could this page please be restored?  at least for my slides it was the
only site where they were available.

Hello,

probably many of you haven't believed in this anymore, but it seems we
will soon finally will receive the videos of the Berlin conference.

Unfortunately, due to a couple of sad reasons, it took our video
producers much time to sort this out, but they are making good progress
now. I have seen some presentations already, and if all goes well, in
short time, we should receive the final cut of the videos which we then
will make available on our website.

With regards to the pictures, unfortunately no volunteer showed up yet
to check them, so we cannot make them public. Whether this changes
depends on the number of volunteers working on that. ;-)

So, looking forward to making videos available finally in a short period
of time - sorry for the delay!

Hello,

one of the legal requirements of running a foundation is to send in an
annual report. In fact, it's two reports: One financial report, which
mostly Thorsten takes care of (thanks so much!), and one activity
report, which is mostly on my desk at the moment.

We need to list all activities we have done, all milestones achieved,
and hand that over to the authorities, to show that we have been doing
what's outlined in our statutes, and that we were active and not just
collected money. ;-)

This report is due end of April, and to be in time and have some reserve
for changes and translations, the board wants to approve it end of March
(!) already. It must be formally approved by the board.

I will look at the announce mailing list as well as the blog, but the
more material I receive, the better it is. So, today, I would like to
ask everyone in the community for feedback:

        - What major achievements have you done?
        - What events did you participate in?
        - Did you get new contributors, donors, supporters?
        - Did you participate in any third-party projects on behalf of LibreOffice?
        - What were your highlights of the previous year?

In a nutshell: We are about to write a review of our first year as
foundation. The good news is, we have been very active. ;-)

The report will be public, so please only send in information that is
meant for the general public. It does not need to be too technical, so
rather than telling "we have implemented function XYZ, improved API
functions ABC" and so on, make it understandable for a wide audience.

So we can collect all documents in one place, please send your feedback
directly to [hidden email] (I am not subscribed to all
mailing lists). Images, videos, slides and other materials are highly
welcome as well. You would *really* help me a lot if you could send
already some written text I can work with, but if that's not possible,
some keywords are ok as well.

2012 was an exciting and very successful year for TDF, so let's present
this to the public - thank you for your cooperation on this!

Thanks a lot!
Florian

Hello,

well, it's indeed been quite a while, and unfortunately, we are still
waiting for the videos. :-(

In the meantime, while moving data away from the old web server, I've
discovered that we are still missing making the pictures public. I once
asked for volunteers, but to no avail, which is why I try again. ;)

So, we have a hand ful of archives with pictures from the conference.
What's required to be done is to

1. check the proper (CC) license of the images
2. check that nobody has been photographed in an ugly situation (dull
smiling face or the like)
3. check that we either have a group picture, or, if individual people
are shown, get their consent for making the picture pubic,
4. unless it's during their talk for which they have given consent already.

Yes, it's a bit tedious, but I recall some (non-LibO) events where
people complained heavily afterwards, so I think we should ensure some
proper handling.

Sooo... any volunteers? ;-)

Hallo zusammen,
nachdem nun die Lokalität und damit das Team für die Conference 2013
feststeht, sollten wir uns überlegen, ob nicht dieses Team die
Moderation dieser ml übernimmt.

Hi,
It seems that the Designers and Hackers slides got mixed up with Kendy's
lightning talk [1].
The actual slides from the talk are at
https://speakerdeck.com/mirek2/designers-and-hackers -- could anyone put
them up?

Hello,

first of all, let me express my sincerest sorry for being so incredibly
late with this. TDF tries to refund valid expenses as quickly as
possible, but given the large amount of requests, and other heavy
workload, we didn't find time until yet to finally investigate this topic.

The board has already approved a budget covering all requests so far,
and subject to a quick final check of the validity, we can initiate
payments soon.

*IMPORTANT*
Within the next 60 minutes, I will send e-mails to everyone who has
requested refunding for the LibreOffice Conference. In case you have not
received an e-mail from me by tonight, but have filed a travel refund
request, chances are you only sent it to one individual board member
directly and I don't have it on screen, or the mail got lost.

In this case, please ping [hidden email] directly, so
I don't miss your request.

Again, sorry for being so late on this,
Florian

Hi,

Many conf talk slides were available at
http://conference.libreoffice.org/talks/, which is now 404. Is there any
ETA when they'll be back?

Thanks,

Miklos
