Hi,
I am trying out Atlassian Confluence, which allows the pages it manages to be exported in Word format (.doc). If I load such a file in Word, it works, but LibreOffice will instead first provide a "ASCII Filter Options" popup, and then opens the document as if it were a raw ASCII text file. Here is the start of the file (the entire file is attached): The contents start as: Message-ID: <[hidden email]> Subject: Exported From Confluence MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary="----=_Part_2_97107473.1342621542514" ------=_Part_2_97107473.1342621542514 ... It reminds me of an email. Does anyone know whatkind of file this is? Can it be opened as a Word doc. in LibreOffice? Which version of .doc is the file being exported as? There are several of them, based on the different version of Office that they came from. I wonder if the file is exported properly. Yes, please use the other system, Nabble, to get the file to people, since this list strips attached files. To be honest, I never heard of Atlassian Confluence. What are you using it for? Hi,
The problem document referred to in my earlier email can be found here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8bUb5ZVQs7iNUthMGs4Ry0xSnM Like LibreOffice, Google Docs also cannot view it, though a link is provided to the original file, at the end of the line starting: "You can also try to download the original document by clicking" (Here's a tinyurl to the doc too: http://tinyurl.com/btmkr2z ; it's called Test+Export+to+Word.doc btw.) Many thanks, Paul On 20/07/2012 16:51, Paul Keir wrote: > Hi, > > I am trying out Atlassian Confluence, which allows the pages it > manages to be exported in Word format (.doc). Does anyone know whatkind of file this is? >> Can it be opened as a Word doc. in LibreOffice? You forgot to show that it is an html document: Message-ID: <[hidden email]> Subject: Exported From Confluence MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary="----=_Part_2_97107473.1342621542514" ------=_Part_2_97107473.1342621542514 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 <==== Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Location: file:///C:/exported.html <==== <html> <head> Actually it's an mht document. When open with Word: File|Save As|Save as type: Word Document (*.doc). Now you can open in LO with all formating, table boxes, etc. LibreOffice doesn't have a filter for mht (mhtml - mime html) files, nor IMO should it. It's not intended to be a 'document' format/protocol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHTML http://people.dsv.su.se/~jpalme/ietf/mhtml.html ftp://ftp.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2557.txt Why does it open so well in Word? Don't know, but I suspect it may have something to do with one of the co-author's (company) of RFC2557... I also wouldn't recommend using it.
