Libreoffice

I have recently bought a new desktop running Windows 7 Home premium(64bit) I have tried to download and install  your  office suite . I have been able to download the file but unable to install. I click the unpack  but at the point of nearly 100% I get the message- Error opening file for writing.

Can you help in any way. Thanks Brian Martin

Re: Libreoffice

Hi :)
Sorry replies are taking so long.  Please could you try to download and install
the 3.3.2 release rather than anything more recent.  The 3.4 is especially buggy
at the moment and still in beta-testing whereas the 3.3.2 is fully stable now
ime.
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.3.2/win/x86/LibO_3.3.2_Win_x86_install_multi.exe

If you have already tried this then the 3.3.1 might be better.  It's the one i
use.
Please let us know how this goes.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Re: Libreoffice

Right-click on the instalation file andm do not choose "Open"
but "Run as the Administrator" (or what is it in English).
Maybe it helps - I usually install all software this way on WIN7.

Jiri

Just speculation here, but I wonder if 64 bit Windows could be part of
the problems.  32 bit software is supposed to run under 64 bit, but we
are talking about Windows.

If I should get Win7, it will be 32 bit just to avoid this problem.  And
I don't need more than 4 GB of RAM.

Practical suggestion:

If you know someone with, or you have, a Win 7 32 bit machine, take the
file you downloaded to that computer and see if it installs.  If it does
install, the problem is not the file you downloaded.

I am assuming all Windows updates are installed on both computers.

Ken

Re: Libreoffice

Hi :)
Have you completely uninstalled OpenOffice?  I think we still have a problem
sometimes when OpenOffice is still installed, particularly if Quick Launcher is
active.  I'm not sure if it would cause this problem tho!

For 3.3.1 i think this site should work
http://www.filehorse.com/download-libreoffice/7579/
but just click on the download button to the right rather than let the page
guide you elsewhere.

Hopefully someone might give better answers to this
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

LibO 3.3.2 installs fine on 64 bit Win7 Pro (at least on the 6+ PCs I've
installed it on so far)...

App for TDF

In reply to this post by Ken Springer
Hi :)

Please could i list you as my contact / verifier person for the application
form?
http://www.documentfoundation.org/application-for-tdf-community-membership/

"Please list at least two contacts who can confirm your contributions or
indicate to the Membership Committee the best way to verify your contributions.
You should provide their name, a valid e-mail address to contact them and a
brief description of their role as a reference. Two contacts is good but only
one is mandatory."

Don't worry if you feel uncomfortable about this.  I have asked a couple of
other people if they wouldn't mind.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
