NL website default font

Hello (after some pause),

some of the libreoffice.org NL websites uses Lato font and some -- general
Sans Serif. It's not a problem if all the required symbols are presented.
lt.libreoffice.org is set to use Lato as default font, but some characters
from Lithuanian alphabet – (į ų ė ū) are missing.
They are displayed using symbols from different font.
Who is able to set default font "Sans Serif" for Lithuanian NL website?
I can't find such an option in my Silverstripe environment.
Thanks.

Re: NL website default font

Hi,

I would ask the same for the Slovenian website (sl.libreoffice.org),
because 蚞ȊŽ are not part of Lato and thus those characters get rendered
in another font which if pure ugly.

Also, for the future: the designers of LibreOffice should take into account
that the fonts they use for localizable content must be full Unicode fonts.

I would suggest that you open a ticket on Redmine
(https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/projects/infrastructure) with this
suggestion (change font through the CMS). It could be a good workaround.

I directly replied in https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/412,
as that contains the details :-)

Characters from the set čįėųū is of odd shape.
You can easily notice this in
  http://lt.libreoffice.org/atsisiuntimas/sviezias-libreoffice/
or
  http://lt.libreoffice.org/atsisiuntimas/stabilus-libreoffice/
h2 elements contain the word "Lietuvių" (means "Lithuanian").
All other pages contain multiple occurances in paragraph texts.

Hi everyone,

I'm investigating this issue now, which is also being tracked on Redmine
here:

Martin, is this still the case? Here's how the download page looks for
me on macOS:

https://i.imgur.com/Tts9Ebu.png

It seems that č/c and š/s are the same font now, unless my eyes deceive
me! Antanas, do you still have the same problem with LT as well?

Cheers,

It's a pity that the dirty reminder appears in the middle of the start page.
Characters that pop out: *č**ėūų*. (screenshot – https://imgur.com/a/BlgY1/)
I guess that these characters are missing in "Lato-300" font only, to be
very specific.

Thanks for that information and the screenshot, which makes it clear
exactly where the problem is! Is anyone else having a similar issue with
their localised sites? It looks to me like Slovenian is OK now...

Re: NL website default font

Actually, check this out:

* Screenshot from Antanas: https://i.imgur.com/xS6uAGu.png

* Screenshot from me (macOS): https://i.imgur.com/67akhXw.png

So for Antanas certain characters look odd (they appear to be rendered
in bold) but it doesn't affect me. Antanas, what browser and OS
combination are you using?

Can anyone else confirm if they get the odd bold letters on
http://lt.libreoffice.org ?

Thanks!

I'm attaching FF screenshot which looks a bit different.
You can realize that there is no bold effect but another close-looking font.

It looks like this list doesn't support attachments, but if you send it

This is a strange problem to pin down...

Ah, thanks. So to be sure, the problem is with these letters, right?

ž č ų ū

To me, they look slightly out of shape or a bit larger than the other
text, especially the "ū" in "kultūra" and other words. Is that what you
mean?

Cheers,
