Some newbie questions (Impress)

Hi everyone, I am making presentation to school and I have some problems. I want to put many text boxes along equal vertical line. Also I use template from internet and there were dots: http://i46.tinypic.com/2lcbmzm.png So how can I remove them from only one slide? Sorry for my English :)

Perhaps these dots are in master slide. Go to View → Master → Slide Master.
You will see that all your slides have disappeared. Don't panic. You have
enabled slide master view, which let's you modify templates for styles. You
want to add new template (the same way as you add new slides) and copy all
graphics from existing one into new one. You have to do it one-by-one though,
as ctrl+a and ctrl+c will not work, unfortunately. In your new template you
don't want these dots, so don't copy them. When you finish, click View →
Normal. Then click on that one slide with right mouse button and select "Slide
Design" - in new window you will select master slide without dots.

That's the "proper" way to do these things. In fact, you can simply create new
rectangle shape without lines and with color of your slide background and
cover these dots with that shape - dots will still be here, but they won't be
visible.

Also please note that you are free to send your message in few languages (as I
did), but basic language of this mailing list is English and you are required
to use it. This way if someone from other country will have similar question,
he or she may find that thread and understand it.

Message in Polish follows.

Zapewne te kropki pochodzą z wzorca slajdu. Kliknij Widok → Wzorzec → Wzorzec
slajdu.
grafiki z poprzedniego wzorca. Niestety ctrl+a, ctrl+c nie zadziała, musisz
kopiować je pojedynczo. Oczywiście powinieneś pominąć te kropki, których nie
chcesz.
„Projekt slajdu”. W nowym okienku wybierz projekt bez kropek.

To „poprawny” sposób żeby osiągnąć ten efekt. W rzeczywistości możesz do

napisane.

There are several ways to do this:
1.
Mark all text boxes together. Kontextmenu (=right click or special key)
-> Alignment > left

2.
Show vertical ruler, open toolbar 'Options', enable 'snap to snap lines'.
Put mouse on the vertical ruler and drag to the slide. You get a snap
line. Move the text boxes one by on to the snap line and let it 'snap'.
Snapping becomes more obvious, if you set the snap range to 20pixel in
Tools > Options > LO Impress > grid

3.
Use dialog 'Position and Size' (Kontextmenu, Format menu or F4) and set
X position to an identical value for all text boxes.

Kind regards
Regina

Re: Some newbie questions (Impress)

Hi :)
The Impress Guide has just been completed today
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications#LibreOffice_Impress_Guide
It's done for 3.5.x branch and only half done for 3.4.x but there is not much point in going backwards especially as 3.4.x is eol already.

Errr, that could have been yday depending on whereabouts in the world you are as it's almost tomorrow here too.  Unless you are reading this tomorrow and i am writing this yday.  Timezones are great :)
Regards from
Tom :)
