When one clicks download The user should be able to choose a mirror that
is closest to them if there are multiple mirrors that are geographically close to the user, or if there is a way to detect a bogged down server which is recieving lots of downloads, when the download button is pressed could an alternative mirror be automatically chosen. the mirror I downloaded form was an italian one gerrit.it mirror and I noticed 1 thing. First attempt at downloading i was getting speeds of about 18kbps. I cancelled the download and restarted again and it started at 780kbps and started slowing down. I have included the mirrors list in this email too. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.documentfoundation.org/www/mirrors/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

However, you can always manually select a mirror by going to http://download.documentfoundation.org, selecting the file and clicking on "details". Then you will see a list of all available mirrors for the particular file. Maybe we can add this information to the download page. But there is the possibility to reduce the score of a mirror, so it will be used less often. > First attempt at downloading i was getting speeds of about 18kbps. Benchmarking mirrors for transfer speed is hard though, as it depends on so many factors. Testing from TDF servers can give much different results from actual users from the region the mirror is meant for... I'll think of adding a "slow mirror" link or similar.. ciao Christian -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.documentfoundation.org/www/mirrors/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |
