[libreoffice-accessibility] Question/Help Tips in Pull-down Menus

Hi. I'm using LibreOffice 4.4.1 with the latest offline help pack. I'm using NVDA 2015.1 as my screen reader on a Windows 7 32-bit machine.
In previous versions, I remembered that the offline helppack generated help text for many of the pull-down menus, such as the items found in the File or Edit menus. I'm not sure when this changed but I notice that those help texts or tool tips aren't reading, although they are when navigating from within the Options dialogs.
I'm just curious if those messages were removed or is it an unintended omission?

Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] Question/Help Tips in Pull-down Menus

Hi David,

Please check that you have the "Extended tips" check-box selected.

Tools -> Options -> General  in the Help section.  A check-box for "Tips" on by default, and a second check-box "Extended tips" is off by default.

Select that active, and you should have more complete descriptions pulled from the offline help pack.

Re: [libreoffice-accessibility] Question/Help Tips in Pull-down Menus

David,

I just loaded NVDA 2015.1, and working with LibreOffice 4.4.1.2 with local help installed.

The "Extended tips" are sounded by NVDA regardless of the check-box setting on Tools -> Options -> General: Help

Seems like they are all there, but is there a specific panel that you recall a more complete help sounding for?
Let me know and I can check for it.

Stuart

Hi, Stuart.
After trying to figure out what might have been causing the problem I did check those settings a while ago and both options are checked.

Hi, Stuart.
Thanks for this note.
To show you where you can see help tips not being read, access one of
the pull-down menus, such as the Edit menu or the View menu.
Once you're in that menu, arrow down through the items. NVDA will read
the item but not a help tip, which I thought I remember from previous LO
versions.
