Hello,
much time has passed since the last marketing conference call, and this is not the only reason to start this year with coordinating our marketing efforts for 2012. ;-) Italo and me would like to invite all of you to participate in a phone conference to discuss on what we have achieved so far, and on what the plans for this year will be. After we have built a good basis, and after we achieved many milestones as a strong community, it is time to reach out for more, and also to listen to each other, to hear about the situation, successes and needs in the various projects around the globe. Everyone is invited - experienced marketeers as well as interested "newbies". The call's language will be English, and I expect it to last one hour, if needed also longer. To have enough time to plan on an agenda and to prepare, we would like to aim for a date in the last two weeks of January. I made some proposals on http://www.doodle.com/d95dn5k3xc2k5s2g and would like to ask all of you to indicate your availability there, in case you would like to join (which we hope! ;). The date with most possible participants will be chosen then and announced soon. Looking forward to hearing all of you, wishing us a successful and healthy year 2012, filled with lots of positive surprises! ;) Florian -- Florian Effenberger <[hidden email]> Chairman of the Board at The Document Foundation Tel: +49 8341 99660880 | Mobile: +49 151 14424108 Skype: floeff | Twitter/Identi.ca: @floeff -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [hidden email] Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/us/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted |

Hi, I'm one of those "interested newbies" who has been lurking for the past few weeks. One of the things I love about participating in the FOSS world is the ability to create barrier-less meetings by going online. Not only by being able to read everything, but also by the use of meetbots that automatically record transcripts and minutes. I recognize however that many people do prefer the convenience of telephone conferences. As I am hearing-impaired, I would like to ask what do you intend to provide as a workaround for those of us who are unable to cross this barrier and be fully participatory? What we do already is two things: First, we have a meeting room at the IRC chat in parallel to the phone conference. Mainly, for sending out links and text snippets, but of course, it can also be used for aiding hear impaired people, i.e. for summarizing discussion and acting as a "gateway". Second, we keep MP3 records and minutes of all calls, so they can be listened to afterwards. However, honestly spoken, I have not much experience in the needs for hearing impaired, so any advice you can give is highly welcome! What could we do for you to make attending the calls easier? Is there any help we can provide? Would be an honour to have you on the call!
