web site downtime

Hello,

one of the disks of our RAID just crashed, so we have to replace it.
This will cause a downtime of about 15-20 minutes on the machine that
hosts our websites.

I'm not sure if it was the same machine as last time (IMHO not), but
anyways, the exchange went smoothly. New disk is in, RAID is
synchronizing again, all is well. :-)

Technically Florian keep the site online but it would run on the degraded RAID array with out needing to take the site offline, that is if the servers are hot swappable. The performance on the site might be a bit slower and will also be slow when the array is recreated.

no, we currently have no hot-swappable disks. However, our ISP was
rather quick with exchanging the disk, so the downtime was not too long. :)
